Ode to Olipop and my favorite yeti.

Olipop is a soda that gains my ultimate approval at current.

I grew up on Mexican Cokes and other sugar based sodas mainly root beer ( I dearly love root beer ) and never gained a fondness for their counterparts made with high fructose corn syrup. As my taste buds evolved I gave up sodas all together in my early 20’s and leaned towards Pellegrino and Topo Chico for carbonation and often made my own Italian sodas using honey as the sweetener. I am a sucker for honey and mint with a good fizz to it, add lime and wallah my mouth does a happy dance! Much like my love of agave and lime, but that’s another post.

Olipop was founded by Ben Goodwin who later gained the support of David Lester whom he partnered with to take the drink to the next level. Their story is quite interesting and involves trial and error. It seems all good things tend to come from learning experiences. After all isn’t that what we as humans do? When we learn to walk we fall numerous times but we never give up, we simply learn from what did not work.

I highly recommend theses sodas as their Cola and root beer are precisley the crispness and flavor profiles we are all looking for in these nostalgic drinks without the chemicals or high sugar content of other brands. Add the health benefits from the herbs and pre/probiotics and you’ve got a huge win of refreshing beverage! Now if we could just get them to use glass bottles. Food for thought Olipop! We love you!
